An heirloom variety from Holland, Netherlands, White Albino (Beta vulgaris) is a gourmet beet unlike any other. Pure white roots that will never stain β no purple hands, no bleeding cutting boards, no mess. What sets Albino apart beyond its color is its exceptional sweetness: these beets are very sweet, high-yielding, and can grow quite large without ever turning bitter. That makes them ideal for home gardens where you want a long harvest window without worrying about timing. Boil, pickle, bake, freeze, or roast β Albino handles it all beautifully and stores well. Grow it on its own or pair it with red, golden, and Chioggia beets for a stunning mixed color display in the garden and on the table. Approx. 1,250 seeds/oz. 50 days.
Direct sow outdoors 4β6 weeks before last frost or in late summer for fall harvest. Sow seeds Β½ inch deep, 2β3 inches apart, in rows 12β18 inches apart. Thin to 3β4 inches. Full sun to part shade. Keep soil consistently moist. Cover roots with soil to maintain best white color. Harvest at 50 days or leave to grow larger β Albino stays sweet and non-bitter even at full size.
