San Marzano is the paste tomato that Italian chefs have demanded for generations β and this indeterminate strain delivers that legendary flavor across a longer, more extended season. Compact yet prolific, it produces bright-red, slim, 3β4 inch fruits with a distinctive pointed end, heavy walls, crack resistance, and remarkably little juice or seeds. The flesh is thicker, the flavor stronger, sweeter, and less acidic than Roma β the reason San Marzano remains the benchmark for serious sauce makers worldwide.
Unlike the determinate strain, this indeterminate variety continues producing through the full season, giving you a steady supply of paste tomatoes for fresh sauce all summer long.
Start indoors 6β8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds ΒΌ inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil. Transplant outdoors after all frost danger has passed, spacing plants 18β24 inches apart in full sun. Stake or cage vines. Water consistently. Harvest when fruits are fully red and firm.
