Ha Gobo Burdock (Arctium lappa) has been grown for centuries in China and Japan for its culinary and medicinal uses. Loved for its edible crisp roots, tender leaves, and hearty stems. The thick white stalk is about 12 inches long with light green tender leaves. The edible root is about 6 inches long. In Japan, used fresh for salad with a pleasant earthy aroma. Also known as Gobo β an incredibly nutritive food and medicine, often cooked in soups or pickled, known for its healing properties and high vitamin content. 75 days. 15+ seeds per packet.
Direct sow outdoors in spring in deep, loose, fertile soil. Seeds need light to germinate β barely cover with soil. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Harvest young and tender leaves throughout the season. Harvest roots at 75 days. Note: burdock roots penetrate heavy clay subsoil and can be difficult to remove once established β choose planting location carefully.
