Green Arrow is a classic main-crop English shelling pea and one of the most productive varieties available. Slim, densely packed, pointed pods reach 4–5 inches long and are filled with 9–11 plump, sweet, tender, bright green peas — an exceptional count for a shelling pea. The pods develop in pairs, bearing two pods on each stem, which makes harvesting fast and efficient. Compact, disease-resistant vines grow 24–30 inches tall with pods conveniently clustered at the top for easy reach. Widely adapted and exceptional for canning, freezing, and eating straight off the plant. 70 days.
Direct sow outdoors 4–6 weeks before last frost in spring, or in late summer for a fall crop (250 days fall sown). Sow seeds 1 inch deep, 2–3 inches apart, in rows 18 inches apart. Provide light staking for easiest harvesting. Water consistently. Harvest pods when plump and filled out — pick frequently to keep plants productive. Exceptional for canning and freezing at peak freshness.
