Walla Walla onion is a very sweet-tasting onion and is known for its great flavor. It produces extra large white onions with light brown skin. Bulbs reach up to 4" across. It does not store well as a short keeper, so it is best for fresh eating. Sweet enough to eat like an apple. It is a delicious cold-hardy variety, and cold hardiness makes it a good choice for short-season climates! Walla Walla is a "day-neutral" variety, which means it will grow almost anywhere in the country regardless of day length. It has been a favorite since the early 1900s when it was brought here from France. It matures about 80-85 days from transplant.
