Vigorous semi-determinant plants with big leaves. It is known to set fruit under a wide range of conditions, making Homestead a great all-purpose tomato. The plant produces good yields of 8 to 9 oz red tomatoes. They are very sweet, meaty, juicy, and flavorful. Perfect for sandwiches, salads, slicing, and canning. The plant has good foliage protecting tomatoes from sun-scald. It does exceptionally well in hot and humid regions. It is known for its reliability to set fruit at high temperatures. Heat Tolerant. The plant requires support, either staking or cages. An excellent choice for home gardens and market growers. A variety was developed by the University of Florida in 1954. 80 days.
